Model T62T-16B Gas Turbine Engine, 1-stage centrifugal compressor annular combustor, 1-stage turbine. Compressor Radial air intake between compressor and reduction gearbox Single-entry impeller mounted back-to-back with turbine wheel on main shaft supported in by ball thrust and roller bearings.

Turbine Radial inflow type. Turbine wheel with integral vanes and exhaust in centre. Max exhaust temperature 1,060 F (637C) at 56.700 rpm. Exhaust Fixed area outlet at rear of turbine.

The centrifugal compressor pressurizes the air and feeds it through the diffuser and into an annular reverse flow combustor with six fuel injectors. The combustor is the main difference between the T41 and the T62. In the combustor, fuel is mixed with the air and ignited to drive the radial inflow turbine. The compressor and turbine rotors are back to back assemblies; essentially one single integrated rotor with a compressor on one face and a turbine on the other face. The engine exhaust is expelled through an axial flow exhaust diffuser. At the front of the engine, the rotating shaft turns a planetary gear set which drives subsequent gears in the reduction and accessory gearbox. The gear train sits in a cast Aluminum housing to which the engine accessories and output load are attached.

The gearbox housing forms an integral wet oil sump, in which an engine driven oil pump resides. The engine output shaft is driven at 8,000 rpm, while the accessory pads turn at various speeds. Accessories include, fuel pump and mechanical fuel control, 24V starter/gen, Techo, Engine governing is a fluid Governor, self Governing.

The Solar T62-16B requires the run in proceeder specified in the solar T62-16B overhaul and parts book.

The FCU can been installed with a throttle plate, as shown. (optional) 

Single shaft 75HP, T62-16B GAS Turbine has a 8000 RPM main gearbox output (1-1/4" x 24 female spline).  It also comes with a complete wiring harness, Cannon plugged at the turbine end and labeled at the opposite free end.

Maintenance:  These turbines can be very long lived, and there is no specific TBO.  This is because the main high speed turbine components of these units are factory listed as "On Condition" and/or 6000 cycles.  They have been known to run for 10's of thousands of hours (and 20,000+ hours in not unheard of). Although, we do suggest maintenance procedures at far lower intervals for any manned aircraft. 

The T62-16B has been tested and is fully operational gas turbine, the T62-16B 75hp type gas turbine is currently been use in the Mini 500 Helicopter in Australia and has had extensive ground and air testing with outstanding performance in all areas.
